Natural Deodorant Tips + Tricks

Switching to Natural Deodorant is a Journey

More about our new deo

The Basics

Even our underarms deserve self-care, so make sure you’re lathering up and washing your underarms thoroughly — this can help eliminate oils and bacteria that are known to contribute to body odor. Exfoliate gently to rid yourself of bacteria and dead skin cells to ensure your delicate skin is ready for a fresh application.

Deodorant helps, but its benefits are maximized when applied to clean skin.

Once you’re so fresh and so clean, apply your deodorant (by following the three tips below!), and smell seriously amazing.

That’s just the TL;DR version. Get into the nitty gritty of deodorant tips below:

1. Let it Breathe

For those that shave your underarms, take some time to let them breathe before you apply your deodorant. Shaving is known to generate microscopic cuts to your skin, so if you apply deodorant immediately afterward you might experience some irritation.

Let your freshly shaven underarms dry completely before applying your deo, and remember to swap out your razor regularly for the closest and the cleanest shave.

2. Warm it Up

Schmidt’s deodorant formulas contain no fillers, which means, they’re pretty condensed with plant-based oils and powders. While it may seem tough at first, your stick will soften once the oils come into contact with your body heat.

Our tip? Gently press your deo stick to your skin, let it warm up for 10 – 30 seconds and feel as it softens… and then apply. The now softened formula will help the ingredients absorb more evenly to help you get the best odor protection, while also avoiding irritation to your underarms.

3. Less is More

When it comes to natural deodorant, less is more. One to two swipes is all you need.

As with all our natural deodorant formulas, Schmidt’s should be applied in small amounts to help avoid common issues like yellow stains or stickiness. You might be used to slathering on your deo, but trust us on this one. Your t‑shirts and that delicate skin under your arms will be so grateful.
