You bet. We’ve got award-winning formulas to show for it like our Rose+Black Pepper Hemp Seed Oil-Infused Deodorant, Sage+Vetiver Hemp Seed Oil-Infused Deodorant and our Water+Wood Activated Charcoal Deodorant.

Our deodorants, formulated without aluminum, use high-quality plant-based ingredients that offer unique, wellness-inspired benefits (like hemp seed oil, activated charcoal, or the use of essential oils in our fragrances) — the resulting product is extremely effective, even for those who have a history of frustration with ineffective deodorants (natural or conventional). Schmidt’s formulas help neutralize odor and keep you fresh without the use of aluminum, artificial fragrance, or fillers like water, alcohol or propylene glycol.

Does Schmidt’s have baking soda free formulas?

YES! We have a sensitive skin collection that’s a gentler formula and baking soda free.

So, what’s the difference between our formulas?

Signature: Uses baking soda to neutralize odor and is a bit firmer than conventional deodorants — this condensed formula provides 24-hour odor protection and requires only a small amount be applied to get results. Our signature sticks are available in amazing scents like Lavender+Sage, Rose+Vanilla, as well as scents featuring activated charcoal like Charcoal+Magnesium and Water+Wood. Learn how to apply here. It works amazingly well!

Sensitive: Uses magnesium to neutralize odor, and is formulated specifically for those seeking effective and natural protection that is especially gentle on skin. This formula prioritizes a smooth consistency, and is also available in amazing scents like Jasmine Tea or Coconut+Pineapple. We also have an activated charcoal sensitive skin deodorant for those who love charcoal called Here+Now, and a hemp seed oil-infused sensitive collection we highly recommend.

How do I apply your deodorant?

It’s easy! Hold under the arm momentarily (10 – 15 seconds usually) to soften the coconut oil upon contact with body heat before gently applying a thin, even layer. Start small, and use less than you might be used to with conventional products. We recommend just 1 – 2 swipes. You can find more application tips here.

Our full size products generally last 3 – 5 months when used every day. Schmidt’s customers often report that one small application lasts them throughout the day without the need to reapply, and that the time to consume a whole product lasts up to twice as long as conventional alternatives.

Is Schmidt’s an antiperspirant? Will it help protect me from sweat?

We don’t formulate with aluminum (used in many antiperspirants) which is known to block the pores to prevent the body’s healthy process of sweating — this means Schmidt’s technically isn’t an antiperspirant. 💦 However, our formula does contain plant-based powders to keep you fresh, so even though Schmidt’s doesn’t prevent you from sweating, it will still offer protection.

Show answer for: Will Schmidt’s stain my clothing?

Will Schmidt’s stain my clothing?

Ah, the dreaded yellow sweat stains. 🙈 These are often the result of chemical interactions between your body’s urea and aluminum in found antiperspirants — however, Schmidt’s contains no aluminum salts, so no worries there! We also recommend that you avoid over-applying (this helps prevent oils from getting into your clothing’s fibers), stay away from tight-fitting clothing and synthetic fabrics, and that you ensure your underarms are dry before applying deodorant — mixing your deo with water makes staining more likely.

Lastly, if you’re using our stick deo, try holding it under your arm momentarily to soften the coconut oil on contact with body heat. This helps speed up the absorption and prevent excess product from winding up on your clothing. We’ve got more info on how to prevent stains here.

Will it melt in high temperatures?

Yep! If the deodorant is exposed to temps around 110° (such as a hot mailbox), it can melt or soften. This is because we do not use chemical stabilizers in our natural formula. 🌡

Show answer for: What is the difference between your sticks and jars?

What is the difference between your sticks and jars?

Our standard jar and stick formulas are similar but made up of different combinations and ratios of ingredients. Our sticks contain coconut oil and candelilla wax to provide an increased glide” often associated with stick applicators. Many find that the jar formula offers more direct control over the application process, while the stick offers the convenience of a more traditional applicator type. Both are highly effective at helping to neutralize odor and keep you fresh.

We also offer a Sensitive Skin formula in our stick format. This is similar in terms of ingredients, but is formulated with magnesium instead of baking soda to neutralize odor, and is designed specifically for those seeking effective and natural protection that is gentle on sensitive skin.

Show answer for: Why is a 2 oz. jar the same price as a 3.25 oz stick?

Why is a 2 oz. jar the same price as a 3.25 oz stick?

This is just based on the different formulas and ingredients in each product, as well as the packaging of the glass jars versus the plastic stick applicators. Also, the jar offers a great deal of control over how much one applies, and most customers report that the jars last just as long as sticks for them.

Help! The dial is stuck on my stick.

Try saying that 10x fast. Here’s a helpful tip that might help:

Take the cap off, then squeeze around the sides toward the top of the stick. Sometimes if the coconut oil gets too firm, it’ll adhere to the sides of the stick — this method should help it release by providing a little heat and pressure. Get a good grip on the dial, and apply gentle upward pressure while you twist. Still not working? Get in touch.

Why is the texture of your deodorant firmer than what I’m used to?

Keen observation! That’s one of the things that makes Schmidt’s unique and a function of the ingredients in our natural formula. Make sure to hold the surface of your deo to your skin for a few seconds to soften up the coconut oil, then swipe just 1 – 2 times. Our formula is designed to be effective in small amounts to help prevent things like staining, stickiness, and over-application. A little goes a long way!

Show answer for: What happens during a natural deodorant transition period?

What happens during a natural deodorant transition period?

Some users report a transition period when switching from traditional antiperspirants and deodorants to natural deodorant. The theory goes that once your sweat glands are freed of aluminum, they may release fluids previously blocked by antiperspirants, causing an increase in moisture.

For those that may experience a transition period, it could last for a couple days, or a few weeks — ultimately, any transition depends on your unique body chemistry. So, when first switching to a natural deodorant, it’s important to keep in mind that application is key. For instance, Schmidt’s deodorants should be warmed with body heat before use by pressing the product against the skin to help soften the oils, which helps for a smooth application.
